10 Questions With Warriors' Coach Shaun Leite

We recently asked one of our 6th grade Warriors' coach, Shaun Leite to learn of his opinion on a variety of questions ranging from game day superstitions to who he would like to be for one day. The following 10 questions are a part of a continuing new feature at the official home of the RYTES Warriors.
Leite, the coach who paces the backcourt during practice and is insistent on his players getting behind the baseline when he asks them too. He has faced a lot of adversity with his first year team. He has dealt with a player and an illness, chemistry with new athletes and combining his squad with another squad to compete in a tournament.
- I Came To the RYTES Because: to help develop young boys fundamental basketball skills, so they can compete now and in the future.
- One Thing People Don't Know About Me as a coach: How nervous I get before each game.
- Other AAU Teams You like to see play: DGibs always plays tough defense and they never give up.
- If I Could Trade Places With a coach For A Day, It Would Be: Mike D'Antoni of the New York Knicks
- Best Time To Practice: weekends so the parents aren't so pressed after work to get the boys to practice.
- Game-day Superstition: As a player I had many superstitions, but as a coach I think preparation overcomes any fear of the unknown.
- Pet Peeve on the court: standing around and not catching the ball in triple threat.
- Two Words To Describe Your team On The Court: intense and fast
- Two Words To Describe Your team Off The Court: friends and family
- My Advice To student Athletes Would Be: Always push yourself academically to be the best student you can be... that will translate on the court and in life in general.
