Two competitive Coaches With Two Competitive Teams
Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 9:49AM Coach Lamar Holt of the 5th Grade Warriors and Coach Danario Edgar of the 4th Grade Warriors have dutifully waved the flag for the RYTES Warriors, and people are taking notice.
By preparing their teams to play at the next level, the coaches have almost assured themselves that they will have their teams heading back to Nationals this summer.
"We see it everyday at practice," Holt said. At the beginning of the year when I talk about the RYTES Warriors, folks looked at me sideways because they thought I was crazy. I'm not crazy.
"We're hopeful the message will be sent out, the RYTES Warriors can play next level basketball."
Holt has been touting the Warriors for three years. Edgar is in his sophomore effort, having taken his team to Nationals in his first year as head coach of the now 4th grade Warriors - Edgar.
In his second year with the RYTES, he has many believing.
Holt's 5th grade Warriors entered the season as the second-ranked team in the country. Nevertheless, they have seen some talent so far this year. In the recent Spring Bling tourney, they finished second in a championship game against We Can All Go (TN). Also this season, Holt's Warriors defeated the current No.1 team in the country, Team Ramey in a semi-final game, so his boys are thinking it's all possible again, if "They Believe."
Edgar's team are planning a repeat trip to Nationals this year and their stats are off to a great start; they have beaten some 5th grade teams and have finished higher in some high profile tournaments all year.
"They are not upsetting anyone," Holt said. "The are outplaying other teams on that particular weekend."
Holt emphasized that "People are going to talk in support of you or against you. As long as respect for the team is there, we good.” Holt noted that he notices what’s being said, positive or not so positive, and makes it a point to have his team to always be ready to compete with elite skills and great sportsmanship.
Warriors appear to have that respect.
"I'm very happy with all the coaches we have here," Holt said. "If I had to say one thing about all of them, it’s how proud I am of what they've done to persevere through adversity."
"We realize teams have nothing to lose, not a single thing," he said. "If they lose, they were supposed to lose. It's a challenge, and that's what it's all about."
Edgar and Holt are two competitive coaches with two competitive teams.
Edgar's team doesn’t come into a game mad just confident. You can witness this when they stop teams with their full court press.
Holt's 5th grade squad enjoyed a good finish last year with their effort at Nationals but they are not stopping here. These fearless youngsters enjoy wearing their “We Believe” paraphernalia when they show up to various tournaments because they truly believe in each other.
Which makes us BELIEVE too...

I am also very proud of these two coaches and all the teams players, BUT that is all we ever hear about everytime we open the Rytes Website. There are alot of other teams in the Foundation that have placed 2nd in big tournaments or higher in alot of tournaments with no
mention at all, until someone makes a really big deal about it, than it might show up as a little mention with NO pictures 3 or 4 weeks latter.
Maybe just Maybe if you would show the other kids on the other teams the same type of respect they might feel better about themselves
and not like stepchildren to the two teams always mentioned in the articles. Or maybe your just the publicity agent for those two teams and we need to take note and hire our own. Believe it or not the other kids are proud of their teams as well. But if we all turly BELIEVE, than if one team shines they should help shine the light on all the other teams as well. Lets see if you post this !!!!!
A Proud Dad, we are proud of all the teams, coaches, assistant coaches and team moms within this foundation. We highlight the contributions that all teams make and they are mentioned, covered and highlighted on the website. We have featured stories on other coaches and have many planned for in the future. We are very grateful of the volunteer effort these coaches give to the organization.
We also cover tournaments, not just ours, but the ones that any of our teams play in.
So no, we are not a publicity agent for the two teams. These two coaches have not solicited nor asked to be covered. They have been accessible to the organization for interviews or conversations that have been reported.
Thanks for the input and we encourage you and others to comment on the website, but we have ran stories on a coach other than the two mentioned in this article, Coach Barry King and the New Breed
I agree with A PROUD DAD, I am so glad that someone finally said something about it. My son and me read the Rytes Website together
all the time waiting to see pictures of his teams wins, or a article about his team, or coach but nothing ever is mentioned..
Tell all us, what articles about other teams and coaches beside the one mentioned (KING) that you have written about. And where
are the pictures from all these tournaments you attend.
And as far as I know all the coaches practice in the same gym all the time and on the same days, so if your saying there not acessible
that's simply not true.
Warriors Media the game is over.........
We have many new stories featuring the teams and and insight on the coaches that volunteer their time. If you have any pictures or info about tournaments, please send to info@rytesbasketball.net Someone will respond and post to the story by the end of the day.
thanks A Proud Dad and Basketball Mom.
