Coach Barry King and the New Breed (Warriors)

If Barry King is on the court, he's ready to coach, teach and definitely influence the tempo of any practice. He stands close to the sidelines with his starched jeans and the fresh sneakers and this basketball purist is full of defensive and offensive plays and words to motivate players to give more than they think they have in the tank.

Coach King coached a RYTES Warriors 5th grade team in the past and now he is back with the 5th grade New Breed (Warriors). His New Breed goes through practice like its an all out game. From the cones to the three on two, two on one drills, its with the speed they have been conditioned to perform under when they step on the court. They remind you of the formula of the much older RYTES/Defender Select teams, fast at the point, quick on the wings and lengthy in the middle. Yes, this is the New Breed of Warriors Coach Barry King has put together.

Most of us, witnessed the speed of this team at the Gulf Coast Blue Chip Shootout a few weeks ago. Defensively, they will press you up and down the court, trapping you at times, giving you everything they got. Offensively they get to their spots during transition knowing full well that opportunities will present itself to score or get a rebound and a quick putback. Lack of effort is not an issue with this team.

Every since the beginning of the season, you have heard it from Coach King. "It starts right here...in practice! Not in the game...at practice! You got to put in the work...to beat the best!"

This New Breed believes it and it shows in every tournament.
