This Team Goes Hard So Opponents Go Home
Last year, Coach Danario Edgar devoted his time to developing a young Warrior team that was fundamentally sound and geared up to compete; a team that plays hard from baseline to baseline. This team took their winning philosophy to AAU Nationals last year and battled with the best. Although they didn’t bring home the title, they proved to be a talented team that is not to be underestimated. Now that they have made a name for themselves, this Warriors team displays a dominating persona that intimidates many of their opponents. Danario (DJ) Edgar II, Cody Hunter, Kimani Briscoe, Trey Singleton, Byron Schoby and Co. sometimes remind you of other RYTES teams that dominated their age group in the past.
This ferocious team has been trained to hoop and play at a pace that flusters, frustrates, and pretty much get up under the skin of other teams. Forget the X’s and O’s, this team is bent on outperforming you at every aspect of the game. With DJ piloting the squad, Byron Schoby as their three-point specialist, Cody Hunter as the trusty wing man and Kimani Briscoe along with Michael Moore posting up and blocking shots, this team is setting their hearts on Nationals once again. But the list of promising talent doesn’t stop here. Ryan Stewart who is an up and coming talent is getting the most out of his minutes, and Trey Singleton is a lofty wing who works hard at both ends of the court. Newcomers, Jarred Garcia and Justin Thomas hustle coast to coast and don’t back down from anybody. Edgar’s team imposes fear in their style of play; they press up and down the court, trying to force turnovers and low-percentage shots. Their go hard, so “you” go home mentality seems to drive this uncompromising group to success.
The 2010-2011 season is off to a buzzing start for this young Warriors team; they placed first in the Best In The Winter Slam tournament and second in the MLK Classic. Keep watching for this lineup if you want to experience Coach Edgar’s dominating force in action.
