Martin Luther King hoop tourney highlight holiday weekend

This weekend as we remember and honor Dr. Martin Luther King, our Warriors will show our respect to a man who stood for so much by giving back to the community by playing in the tournament, MLK New Beginning Classic at Jesse H. Jones High School right here in Houston, Texas.

"This is something very good for our players," Coach Lamar Holt said. "Giving back to the community like this will build character."

Our upstart surprise team so far 3rd Grade/ Lawrence, the always ready 4th Grade / Edgar team along with the fiesty 5th Grade / O.C. team. Coach Holt will take the floor with his machine, 5th Grade / Holt team playing up on the 6th grade level right beside our 6th Grade / Moor team that has the tools to dominate this tournament.

Games are as follows:

3rd Grade Lawrence: 8am, 10am, noon

4th Grade / Edgar: 3 and 5pm

5th Grade / OC: 5 and 7pm

5th Grade / Holt : 11am, 2 and 4pm

6th Grade / Moor: 11am and 2pm

Also this weekend 3rd Grade / Felix along with 5th Grade / King and 5th Grade / OC (double duty) will take the court in League Play at Harvest Time and Albert Thomas Middle School. 6th Grade / Shaun and 6th Grade Brantley will also participate in League Play.

Well the Warriors came out in full force but only two teams made it to the Championship game and that was 4th Grade Warriors / Edgar came in 2nd place in the 10U bracket and 3rd Grade Warriors / Lawrence won the 9U championship.

Congrats to both!
